New Year, New Possibilities

Ok, so we are a few days into 2010 now, and I have come to a few conclusions.  Taking my hopes and dreams into consideration, I am making plans for the coming months in an effort to fulfill them.

First, I want to build on the knowledge that I acquired in my recent photography class.  The best way to do this is to get out and take pictures.  I know that some people last year made a commitment to post a new picture everyday, on twitter at least.  Most of these people, as best as I could tell, were self-employed photographers.  Meaning that they had the ability to do whatever they wanted, or were able to find customers for.  I don’t have that luxury, so I am only committing to at least 1 photograph every week.  But my goal is to also talk about the photograph, how it was taken, and why I chose to take it.

Second, besides the new knowledge that I gained from the class that I took, I also gained some confidence in my photographs.  To that end, I plan to start submitting some of my photographs to stock photography sites.  That way I can also take that feedback and improve on my skills.  Hopefully I will also be able to make a little extra money that way as well.

Lastly, I am going to try to make it back to PhotoShop World this year.  Of course this is a commitment of time and finances, and nobody can guarantee either of those.  The East Coast gathering this year is again in Orlando, Florida, so it may be the easier one to get to, but it is also less than 3 months away, and I do not know if I will be able to get the finances arranged by then.  If not, then I will shoot for the West Coast version, which is typically in Las Vegas.  That will mean more money, but is also further away time wise.

I figure that if I am ever going to achieve my dream of being recognized as a good professional photographer, I need to get started.  I’m not getting younger after all.  So I hope that you will all stay tuned, and follow me on my journey.
